Friendliness and enthusiastic participation in parish
life are the hallmarks of Our Lady of the Pines parishioners
We share our happiness with each other and it becomes greater
We share our troubles with each other and they become smaller
We share one another’s griefs and burdens and their weight becomes possible to bear
Welcome to Our Lady of the Pines Parish, Donvale.
We are a warm and friendly community located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, nestled in a quiet residential area. When sitting in our Worship Centre, looking out the windows, you will be surrounded by trees and enjoy the sounds of the many birds.
One of our strengths is our strong sense of community which is demonstrated every Sunday when many of our parishioners stay back for a cuppa and a chat after Mass, forming and maintaining firm friendships. The children are given an icy-pole and happily play together.
New parishioners are warmly welcomed by members of our ‘Welcoming Committee’ and are encouraged to stay back for a cuppa to get to know other parishioners and feel part of the community. We also hold social functions once a month which are well attended.
We are a community for all and strive towards friendship and inclusiveness.
“Love one another, as I have loved you”

May God Bless You

Plenary Council Update
THANK YOU to everyone who has completed a Plenary Council Listening and Dialogue Submission on the Plenary Council website. Your efforts to help shape the Future of Our Church in Australia is very important.  For those who have not had an opportunity to, Google – Plenary Council 2020 – and complete the submission.  As previously advised, our new archbishop, Archbishop Peter Comensoli, would like to develop a profile about our hopes for the church in Melbourne.  Accordingly, when you do your submission and you get near the end, you will be asked – Would you like a copy of your submission emailed to you? (Note: any files you may have uploaded will not be included in the copy.) • Yes • No
We asked you to tick ‘yes’ and to insert the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne email address – plenary@cam.org.au. Please note that this will no longer be necessary. The submission process has been modified to ask you – Do you give permission for the Plenary Council to send your de-identified submission to your diocese? Please press ‘yes’, and there is no longer a need to insert the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne email address. Please support Fr Jerald and illustrate that the community of Our Lady of the Pines has a strong interest in the future of OUR Church in Australia.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation)
At the Vigil Mass on Sat 15 December, Father Jerald will conduct the RCIA Rite of
Acceptance for an unbaptised candidate who will enter the Catechumenate.  This is the next step in the journey to prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) at Easter. A second candidate,
already baptised, will be welcomed into the
Catechumenate in February 2019.
Regular evening faith sharing meetings will continue throughout the Catechumenate.
Weekend Dismissals for Catechesis following the Liturgy of the Word commence at this time to afford the Catechumen additional opportunities for
enrichment. Parishioners are asked to keep the RCIA Ministry at OLOP in their prayers.
Thank You to our Altar Servers
On Sunday 16 December we shall officially thank our Altar Servers for their time and dedication to this Ministry.  We shall be presenting a certificate and a small Christmas Gift to say “thank you” for all that they do for our Parish. We hope all our Altar Servers will be able to be in attendance on 16 December.
